About the role:
As the manager of the Quantitative Genomics team, you will be responsible for overseeing various aspects of the team's operations.
The ideal candidate should possess critical thinking skills, be eager to assist with experiment design, have knowledge of technical steps and data quality, and actively participate in the genomics community to stay up-to-date with the latest developments.

Manage operations including recruitment, performance evaluation, staff development, and ensuring efficient workflows and scheduling for next-generation sequencing instrumentation and services Establish and maintain priorities, workflows, and mechanisms for service request submission, completion, and communication with the requester Plan and manage budgets, make proposals for new initiatives, make capital equipment requests, and provide financial projections, updates, and corrective measures as necessary to perform within budget constraints Possess a sufficient understanding of the researchers' science to offer effective services, collaborate on attaining project goals, and make suggestions for improvements.
This understanding will be gained by attending relevant scientific talks, informal conversations, and reading publications.
Knowledge of applications and their expected data outputs, perform initial QC to ensure run quality, ensure scripts and routine jobs are running as expected, and communicate information timely to researchers Collaborate with data analysts to plan projects and resolve issues Stay up to date on emerging technology in genomics, including next-generation sequencing and spatial transcriptomics, and participate in technology user groups to keep current on improvements and instrument updates What you bring:
BS in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or a related field.

is preferred.
An equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience will be considered.
Minimum 3 years of experience working with next-generation sequencing technologies Minimum 5 years of experience working in a core facility setting Leadership and supervisory experience in a laboratory setting preferred Strong initiative, self-motivation, and capacity for creative problem-solving Strong verbal and written communication skills Strong organizational skills, customer service skills, and time management skills Physical Requirements:
Remaining in a normal seated or standing position for extended periods of time; reaching and grasping by extending hand(s) or arm(s); dexterity to manipulate objects with fingers, for example using a keyboard; communication skills using the spoken word; ability to see and hear within normal parameters; ability to move about workspace.

HHMI considers a candidate's education, previous experiences, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity when making job offers.
Typically, a new hire for this position in this location is compensated between the minimum and the midpoint of the salary range.
