The Vice President of Cyber Data Science works closely with the companys executive management team.
This position is a leadership role responsible for developing, expanding and optimizing the ongoing operation of the companys tools, technologies, and technical solutions leveraging data science, advanced analytics, machine learning, generative AI, and other algorithms as applied to solve vexing strategic national security and cybersecurity problems.
In addition, the VP of Cyber Data Science is responsible for the ongoing strategic advancement of the companys data science capabilities.
As the VP of Cyber Data Science, you will be responsible for defining the roadmap for your team and partnering with Product and Engineering teams to materialize those initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Partner with senior business, product, and engineering leaders to develop strategic goals and direction needed to continuously enhance the companys technology platformsBe a technical leader for the data science team, helping institute engineering best-practices (secure coding standards, automated testing, scalability, etc.
) while growing the technical capabilities and capacity of the teamEnsure data best practices and play a critical role in building a data-driven culture throughout the entire organizationPartner with senior business, product, and engineering leaders to develop strategic goalsPartner with the technology leadership team to create a long-term vision and develop a roadmap of cyber data science projectsWorking with the Telos Innovation team and lab, conceive, develop, implement, and continually improve data science, machine learning, and AI projects.
Leverage skills, experience, and creativity to apply data science to tackle interesting and challenging problemsDevelop new capabilities to deliver business solutions by applying data science algorithmsBuild and lead a high-performing team of data scientists, helping to enhance their skills while creating a fun and engaging culture that helps them prosperFoster career growth and provide thoughtful mentorship to develop employees at varying levels of experience.
Establish a clear vision and mission for the data science departmentWork with cross-functional partners and executives in product, engineering, operations, finance, and marketing to define and achieve business goals and to build data-informed business strategies and roadmapsDetermine value for leveraging data science, machine learning, and other analytical techniques to improve existing product features and capabilities.
Provide leadership on how to leverage data and data expertise to improve the customer experienceServe as a champion for data science and informed decision-making at all levels of the company.
Make analytical techniques approachable and understandable to non-data scientistsLeads the production of analysis of historical patterns in customer behaviors and product performance from large, noisy, and complex datasets.
Leads development and deployment of predictive models based on historical data that provide future predictions about customer behavior.
Researches, educates and applies knowledge of existing and emerging data science principles, theories, and techniques to inform business decisions.
Crafts and is responsible for deliverables and presentations that report methodology and results of analysis.
Owns the development of customer centric models and optimization tools to support large scale projects that use streaming and at-rest processing over structured and unstructured data.
Understand platform usage and assist with production deployments and customer issue triage.
Develop security features as part of the development and adopt the DevSecOps culture.
Required Skills and
Experience:
Understanding of foundational internet services to better defend cyberspace, both external and internal to organizations.
Network understanding is critical for this role, preference give to expert levels of understanding over data science depth.
Demonstrated experience and subject matter knowledge in cyber and information security for applications, web architectures, operating systems, and databases.
Experience and proven capabilities in application risk assessment, application security architecture development, web application security, and application security testing.
Demonstrated experience in security architecture risk assessment, requirements development, secure design analysis, architecture assessment and development, and security testing of applications and systems.
Extensive experience developing, evaluating, and implementing cyber and information security architectures, technologies, standards, and practices to secure applications and IT systems.
Expertise with security development lifecycle (SDL) processes for internally developed applications.
Expert knowledge and experience in application security standards, methodologies, and technologies.
Proven capability to assess enterprise architectures for vulnerabilities and develop appropriate security countermeasures.
Expertise in Python for both cybersecurity and data science applications.
Expertise in platforms like Elastic, Hadoop/Cloudera, etcUnderstanding of hardware GPU, DPU applications to speed analysis of very large datasets and applicability of different CSPs offerings to make effective analytical platform target decisionsExperience developing and implementing container-based and microservices solutions containing sophisticated analytical logic.
Demonstrated expertise in working with cybersecurity data sets and applying machine learning techniques to aid in security compliance, defensive, offensive, network operations and/or threat hunting.
Experience in parsing and cleansing data.
Highly preferred if experienced in the application of machine learning to aid in data parsing and normalization of very large data sets in streaming environments.
Experience working in Agile, DevSecOps environments.
