In this Budget Analyst position you will become a key team member of Homeland Security professionals.
Typical work assignments include:
Monitoring the obligation and disbursement of funds with multiple sources and types to ensure resources are allocated properly and are being executed timely, efficiently, and as authorized, including salary & benefits, overtime & premium pay, relocations, inter/intra-agency agreements, and procurement actions;Analyzing financial and budgetary relationships to develop recommendations for financial and/or budget actions and reviews and recommends the amount and timing of allotments of funds to agency components and programs and monitors commitment, obligation and expenditures of allotted funds;Planning, organizing, and carrying out a major, substantive budget activity for a significant program component;Developing new methods and techniques of budgeting for the forecasting of long-range funding needs (2 to 5 years or more into the future);Providing expert advice and assistance to managers and budget staffs on all phases of the budget program.

Qualifications
Experience:
You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:
Independently reviewing, analyzing, consolidating and revising budget estimates, justification statements and budget execution plans submitted by agency components;Planning, organizing, and carrying out annual and multiyear budgeting requirements in support of a major organization or program;Analyzing financial and budgetary relationships to develop recommendations for financial and/or budget actions;Providing expert advice and assistance to managers and budget staffs on all phases of the budget program;Providing analytical services to support the formulation, justification, presentation, enactment, and execution stages of the budget process for the agency.

You must:

Residency:
There is a residency requirement for all applicants not currently employed by CBP.
Individuals are required to have physically resided in the United States or its protectorates (as declared under international law) for at least three of the last five years.
