LocalCACI is currently looking for a motivated, career and customer-oriented Senior-level Hardware Engineer with Agile methodology experience to join our Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Land Border Integration (LBI) Integrated Traveler Initiative II (ITI2) team in Northern Virginia! Join this passionate team of industry-leading individuals supporting the best practices in Agile Software Development and hardware integration for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

What you'll get to do:
As a Hardware Engineer working for the CBP ITI2 program, you will have a fast moving, challenging, and highly rewarding position building systems and components that assist CBP in protecting the public from dangerous people and materials while facilitating legitimate trade and travel.
The candidate will have experience in the electronic and / or mechanical assembly process.
The candidate will be required to work in an environment where teamwork and individual collaboration is essential to success.
Analyze and decompose operational, mounting, cabling, power, and environmental requirementsResearch, identify, design, develop, test, and maintain hardware componentsConstruct modular electronic systems utilizing Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) hardware and enclosures to protect systems from environmental hazardsConfigure systems using COTS and proprietary softwarePerform testing and troubleshootingIdentify hardware component, process, and assembly improvementsDevelop assembly instructions, interpret engineering blueprints and technical terms.
Discern quality of parts and materials.
Contribute to Basis of Estimate (BOE) and Bill of Materials (BOM) buildupsIdentify quality control and testing stepsYou have:
Must be a US Citizen with the ability to pass CBP background investigation, criteria includes, but not limited to:
3-year check for felony convictions1-year check for illegal drug use1-year check for misconduct such as theft or fraud10
years of related experienceCollege degree (BS) in Electronics Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience acceptable in lieu of degree.
Experience building electronic systems in an enclosure with wires, screws, and electrical componentsGreat interpersonal and excellent communication skillsYou are good at:
Basic understanding of computer operating systems and networking.
Experience in working with cable, wire, and termination technologies.
CAT-6 Cable creation and testingA fundamental knowledge of electronic theory.
Understands basic electrical wiring principles (low voltage only)Understanding of simple test equipment including multi-meters and cable testers.
Knowledge of Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools for use in designing hardware containment and mounting systemsUnderstanding of Gen 2 RFIDExperience with network based cameras, including their configuration and setupCreating and interpreting technical documentation.
Using power tools such as drills, power saws, and other tools.
Using hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, cutters, etc.
Machining and manipulating of metal, plastics, and composites.
Installing, configuring, and running operating systems including Windows and Linux.
Assembling high level devices using provided instructionsPerforming quality assurance checks on assembled or repaired devicesManaging, troubleshooting, and preserving technical equipmentProblem solvingTime-managementBonus would be having:

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
