Summary:
Support systems engineering processes and supplement skills to systematically convert customer needs into total systems solutions. Apply systems engineering processes to aid in the performance of requirements analysis and management, design oversight, analyses and trade studies, system integration, and system level test. This position typically works under close supervision and direction. Essential Job Duties and
Responsibilities:
o Perform system level testing o Define and document the system requirements for products o Allocate system requirements to hardware/software and oversee development/refinement of lower-level requirements o Write specifications, design documentation, and test plans/procedures o Perform hardware/software integration o Gather, analyze, and report metrics o Create and update functional and environmental test reports. o Work closely with other engineering disciplines to ensure coordination and integration of system elements and interface requirements, both internally and externally with teammates/subcontractors. o Comply with Cubic's values and adherence to all company policies and procedures. Experience:
Strongly Desired o Exposure to Information Technology and Internet Protocol (IP) networking areas o Exposure to Cisco, VMware, Linux, and Microsoft o Knowledge of Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and overall IP networking technology o Ability to load, configure and implement virtual machines in a VMware environment along with other hypervisors o Ability to test and document new products and clearly communicate design improvements o Aptitude to operate environmental test equipment o Basic electrical engineering background Desirable o Understand low-level computer concepts (BIOS programming, ethernet controllers, etc) o Software development background o Knowledge of deployed communications and telecommunications such as SATCOM, 3G/4G LTE, MANET/MESH, and fiber. o TCP/IP, fiber optic, cellular (3G/4G/LTE), and serial networks o WAN optimization (SCPS-TP, Compression, Data Caching, etc.) o Network routing (BGP, OSPF, RIP, GRE, IPv4, IPv6, etc.) o Familiar with networking products from companies such as Cisco, Juniper, Aruba o Satellite carriers such as Inmarsat, Thuraya, Intelsat, or similar; and their service providers o MANET/MESH products and networks o Radio Over IP (RoIP) o Voice Over IP (VoIP) o IP Call Managers (CISCO, Asterisk, FreePBX, etc) o Video transport (MPEG2, RTP, H.264) o Transport security (IPSec, Suite B, Type-1 cryptographic equipment, CSfC) o SIP media servers (e.g. Motorola Solutions' Wave) o Edge networking equipment such as hand-held radios or VoIP devices o Protocol analyzers and test equipment (Wireshark, Iperf, Spirent, etc) o Certifications such as Cisco CCNA, CCNP in Route and Switch, Security, and IP telephony. o Military communications experience o Analog voice (FXO, FXS) o Digital voice (E1/T1 PRI) o Secure telephony (STE, STU) Personal Qualities:
o Effective written and oral communication skills. Minimum Job Requirements:
Familiarity with the Systems Engineering process. Basic knowledge and experience in system and software/hardware development. Experience in computing networks, platforms, and software architectures. Knowledge and experience in the definition and traceability of system requirements. Knowledge in the implementation of system requirements verification methods. Knowledge and experience in the planning of system test activities. Demonstrate people-oriented management expertise and practices. Strong presentation and organizational skills. Effective written and oral communication skills. Mental ability to perform engineering problem solving and analytical tasks. Must be able to work under project deadlines and associated cost and schedule constraints. Proficient in Microsoft Office. ISO 9001:
2000, SEI CMMI, and/or Lean/Agile development knowledge and experience preferred. DOD experience preferred. Must be able to obtain a Security Clearance if necessary.
Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
Minimum Qualification
Systems Architecture & EngineeringEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
