The Communications Coordinator will play a key role in managing our organization's communication efforts.
Position
Summary:
Coordinate creation, implementation, scheduling and reporting of a comprehensive communications and public relations program that will enhance the Association's image and position within Brambleton and the greater community in a manner consistent with the Association's branding.
Responsible for all aspects of Association communications, public relations activities and materials including publications, social media, email messages, marketing materials, photography, video production and website content.
Essential Functions:
With direction from Community Engagement, General and Assistant General Manager, develop communications materials, including website content, a quarterly magazine, email newsletters, social media releases, photos and videos, event summaries and public reports to promote BCA and generate greater awareness of community news, events, programs and educational outreach.
Responsible for editorial direction, design, production and timely distribution of all Association publications, to include but not limited to:
the weekly email newsletter, quarterly magazine and new resident handbook.
Responsible for proofreading and coordinating the release of information from the Association through written, electronic and social media formats.
Monitor and maintain all the Association's communication channels to ensure all content is current and consistent with established standards.
Ensure articulation of the Association's desired image and position; ensure consistent communication of this branding to all constituencies both internal and external to the Association.
Responsible for the daily administration, financial management, logistics planning, budgeting and fundraising that is inherent to this position.
With input and approval from the management team, create the appearance of all Association print and electronic materials such as letterhead, use of logo, brochures, etc.
Actively solicit and maintain positive relationships with advertisers and sponsors.
Provide counsel to BCA staff on communications and public relations.
Develop and maintain relationships with various contractors such as graphic designers, printers and website provider to meet the Association's needs.
Collaborate with Events Planner to implement sponsorships and related partnerships.
Work closely with Community Engagement Manager to create/design marketing graphics, signs and banners for Association events.
Capture photos/videos and post to social media accounts at all Association events.
Take/design and store photographs/graphics for use in Association publications.
Secondary Functions:
Assist in developing and submitting draft communications budget.
As needed, coordinate and oversee resident surveys.
Lead projects as assigned, such as cause-related marketing and special events.
Coordinate, track and evaluate effectiveness of communication strategies; continually research and develop new opportunities to communicate BCA's messaging.
Develop and coordinate production schedules for all communication platforms and provide reporting to include at a minimum, channel specific metrics and overall activity.
Coordinate media interest in the Association and ensure regular contact with target media and appropriate response to media requests.
As directed, act as the Association's liaison to the media.
Keep informed of developments in the field of marketing, communications and public relations, association management and the specific business of the Association and use this information to help the Association operate with initiative and innovation.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills:
Display and promote the Association's Vision, Mission and Values.
Mac and Windows proficient.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Effective at planning and organizing communications.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook), publishing software and social media marketing.
Experience in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop) and video editing software preferred.
Proficient in digital photography and video production and editing.
Drone navigation experience a plus Strong teamwork and leadership skills.
Basic knowledge of budgeting.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks simultaneously and display great attention to detail.
Abilities:
Normal dexterity of hands and fingers.
Regular, skilled use of personal computers and other office machines.
Normal physical strength to handle routine office materials, tools and objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
Normal eye-hand-foot coordination.
Normal physical mobility, which includes long distance walking.
Normal verbal, written and non-verbal communication.
Normal ability to see, distinguish color and hear.
Work Environment:
Office environment:
typically sits, bends, stoops and must have ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
Participate in outdoor work for the occasional setup, breakdown, and execution of community events.
Flexible schedule requiring occasional night and weekend work.
